For anyone in the North West...

As I understand it, The Clientele are playing Liverpool on 24th April. Not only is that a Saturday, but it co-incides with Everton v Fulham too so I'll certainly be in attendance...

I can't believe that I will finally get to see The Clientele in April. I can't wait for this gig. I'm assured the ICA is a top notch venue.

Setlist unsurprisingly not that different from the recent US shows, though I was hoping for something from this new mini-album:

Since K Got Over Me
We Could Walk Together
Here Comes the Phantom
Bonfires on the Heath
Never Anyone But You
I Wonder Who We Are
I Hope I Know You
Lamplight
I Know I'll See Your Face
Harvest Time
My Own Face Inside the Trees
Reflections After Jane
The Garden at Night
----
Night Time
Bookshop Casanova

I've posted some crappy iPhone photos at http://www.songkick.com/concerts/383294 ... orary-arts

It felt to me like a slightly low-key evening (would 'competent' and 'satisfactory' be damning it with faint praise). Alasdair: "I don't feel much like talking" plus mutterings about problems with guitar tuner. Mel had lost her voice. James and Mark inscrutably effective as always.

I enjoyed it, certainly, though expected them to be playing a little longer. Thought 'Lamplight' was quite stunning.

Alasdair seemed a little despondent, but I haven't seen the band for a while so don't know if this is his usual on-stage demeanour.

I thought it was a fantastic gig - the sound was superb, as was the 'Alice In Wonderland' film backdrop. I agree about the band's on stage demeanour. Al was clearly annoyed aand quite grumpy. The ICA didn't look anywhere near full, which I was expecting, so maybe this was the cause of his grumpiness? I just hope he'd had a bad day and that the Liverpool gig is going to be the end for the band.

i too thought it was an excellent gig. Their stage demeanor is always very similar, if anything they seemed jolly in comparison to the last luminaire gig. Sound wise it was fantastic and the backdrop was indeed an interesting addition.

And Nick, i trust you mean that 'you hope the Liverpool gig is NOT going to be the end for the band!!!'
